Roadtrip Day 4- Chena Hot Springs

Chena Hot Springs is about one hour outside of Fairbanks. It was discovered more than 100 years ago and used by prospectors and miners to relieve their aches and pains. It is about 105 degrees and smells like sulfur. It was a fun experience, but the pool was completely natural- which I guess means a little dirty as well. And of course, after weeks of cold weather and rain, it was clear and pretty warm the day we went. On the drive over there, we spotted a moose in the middle of a pond, eating grass off the bottom of it. He would stick his head completely underwater, except his ears were still sticking out above water to listen for signs of danger. He was pretty entertaining to watch, but I think we got too close and he swam off. Yes, swam. These ducks took a swim in the 105 degree pool outside. We ate a gourmet meal of BBQ short ribs and veggies over the campfire. It was delicious!
